Let's get buckets.

We created this league to see and spend time with as many of our friends as possible while doing something that we love.

And we love to hoop.

League structure

We want to create a space for people to meet and bond over hoops. Here's how we do it:
Step 1
Step 1
Register to play
We have hundreds of people interested in playing each season, but we cap the league at 80 for logistical purposes. First come, first served so register today!
Step 2
Step 2
Be assigned a team
We pick teams mostly at random to encourage meeting new people and ensure teams are as fair as possible. No one wants to play against the Warriors in a rec league.
Step 3
Step 3
Play!
Games are Mondays/Wednesdays each week. Matchups will be emailed each week so you have time to scout and talk some friendly trash.
Step 4
Step 4
Carve your name in history
Each season, the winning team gets its name engraved on the SF Hoops Championship Trophy to be remembered forever.

About the league

The SF Hoops League was started in early 2018 by Reuben Torenberg, Erik Torenberg and Brian Hasenstab as a medium to get their friends in the San Francisco tech world together. The teams were purposely picked at random in an effort to introduce league members that didn't know each other prior.

The first season was held in NOPA, where 8 teams battled for SF Hoops superiority. Talent levels ranged from beginner to advanced, and mere acquaintances turned into friendships (as we hoped). Since then, we upgraded to the wonderful gym at Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) in the Mission District and added numerous improvements, including jerseys, weekly recaps & highlight tapes. We strive to add a new wrinkle each season to improve the quality of the league.

As our membership has grown (over 400 league members to date), so have our positive reviews. After 7 seasons full of trash talk, great times and close games, we are excited to bring the league back for a 8th season!
